Dr. Rick Shinto is the current President and CEO of InnovaCare, Inc. Since 2008 till its sale in 2012; Dr. Shinto has served as the President and CEO of Aveta Inc. he also continues to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of InnovaCare’s Health Plans in Puerto Rico.
Dr. Rick Shinto has accumulated more than 20 years of healthcare experience. He has also served as the Chief Medical Officer of NAMM in California, and before that, he was the CMO and CEO of Medical Pathways Management. After working for Medpartners as the Corporate Vice President from 1996-97, he left for Cal Optima Health Plan in Orange County to become the Chief Medical Officer. He began his career as a pulmonologist and internist in Southern California.
Dr. Shinto is the proud author of numerous articles on clinical medicine and healthcare. At the University of California, he received his medical degree. During his tenure at Aveta Inc, he received his Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Award of the year. This award is based on excellence in the service category and also recognizes entrepreneurs who have shown their interest to success via financial performance, innovative ideas and their desire to assist their surrounding communities.
Penelope Kokkinides is the current Chief Administrative Officer of InnovaCare, Inc. She has vast knowledge in managing health care processes, developing clinical programs and their operations with a goal of improving organizational infrastructure. Kokkinides has amassed more than 20 years of health care experience in Medicaid and Medicare which are government programs. Before joining InnovaCare, Penelope Kokkinides worked as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for Centerlight HealthCare. While at Centerlight, Penelope Kokkinides took care of the strategic direction of the managed care division. She also acted as the Chief Operating Officer of Touchstone Health Care Management which is a business unit of the UnitedHealth Group, where she was responsible for implementing the firm’s health model.
InnovaCare has also taken a bold step towards the participation of the Health Care Payment Learning and (LAN) Action Network. LAN is a public-private partnership that puts its interests in moving the U.S. health care system towards payment models that are quality based instead of quantity based.
